Public housing

Living in public housing

While living in public housing you agree to the terms and conditions of a tenancy agreement.

The tenancy agreement sets out your responsibilities, and that of the Department of Housing.

Our information pack, provided at the commencement of your tenancy also outlines your responsibilities it also provides helpful hints about living in public housing. Tenancy support to help you build on your skills to successfully manage a tenancy, such as life-skills training, is available by contacting your Housing office.

To help you stay financially strong, we have also developed a Suggested Budget Planner PDF icon 121 KB. Making these decisions now means you will be less likely to run into financial difficulties and have your tenancy at risk of termination, and can also help you work out how much money you can pay towards an outstanding debt.

As a tenant you also have a responsibility to be a good neighbour. If you have concerns with antisocial behaviour or alcohol management in public housing you should contact your nearest office.
