Dogs

Territory Housing tenants may keep pets on their premises except where prohibited by any of the following circumstances:

  • The home has a suitable yard with fencing that is adequate to contain the pet (dogs or cats).
  • Territory Housing has delivered a notice prohibited the keeping of pets.
  • The keeping of pets offends any Local Government By Law, Public Health Act, Rule, Regulation or other enactment.

Territory Housing tenants are bound by the common provision agreement conditions that state no more than two dogs and/or one cat can be kept on a Territory Housing property. This condition is in place for health and nuisance reasons.

If you have any problems with a neighbouring dog or cat, you should lodge your complaint directly with your local council for action.
